“Lights for Liberty”
Vigil to End Human Detention Camps
Meet in Beaufort at 100 Sea Island Parkway,
the old theater near the High School.
There will be three speakers at the old theater at 8 PM: Rabbi TziPi Radonsky, Pastor Roy Tripp and George Kanuck. We will walk along Sea Island Parkway towards the Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge. Unfortunately, the League has not been able to get a permit to march over the bridge due to unavailable police monitoring, so we will not be crossing it. Bring signs if you wish (the League will not have any available).
At 9 PM we will turn on our lights and spend 2-5 minutes in silence shining them toward Beaufort. Lights MUST be nonflammable - no live candles with open flames - flashlights, battery candles and phones only.
From downtown Beaufort: take the Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge
across to Lady’s Island. The old theater will be on your right past
Meridian Road at the turn for Beaufort High School.
From Port Royal and South of the Broad: take Highway 120, the
Savannah Highway, right after crossing the Broad River Bridge. It will
intersect with Highway 21, Parris Island Gateway, bear right. Follow
Highway 21 to the right turn that takes you to the Sea Islands. Cross the
McTeer Bridge and proceed to the stop light at Publix. Turn left. The
destination will be about a mile on your left.
